Me and my shadow(s)

I woke up excited to finish the book I'm reading. I read until my eyes shut themselves last night.
I went into my little room and lay down on my couch. I had grabbed 2 comfy pillows and a fuzzy blanket to make everything just right for the end of my novel. But everything wasn't right yet. One by one they filed in when they realized I had moved to another room.

Now everyone is in their place and I can finish my book :)
All is right in my world right now.
Can't I just freeze time? I'd have 20 of these guys if I was allowed.

Princess and the Pea

I asked Sierra to move the dog beds so the family room could be vacuumed. She stacked all 3 on top of each other in the kitchen. Smush decided she would lay on top of the tall stack of doggy mattresses.

A few minutes ago she came and laid on the couch in front of the fire. Spoiled little girl! I heart my dog.

Nappy time

Blitzen on couch laying on the German Shepherd throw blanket and Smush on the floor under him.

Two minutes later Sierra wants to join in.

Swiper

Blitzen is taking stuff. When Smush was a pup, she used to take things in her mouth and run outside. I'd find all kinds of weird things out there.
A little while ago, I was laying in bed and there is an open cut out between my bedroom and my "meditation" room (stop laughing). I looked up and saw something being pulled off from the other side. I think it was a pile of clothes. You can see from this snapshot there is a blank space to the right of center.

Then he came in with something in his mouth and laid down next to my bed.

He took a big stuffed bear out of Sierra's room apparently. She doesn't know yet. Ha. She won't care. This dog can do no wrong in her eyes.
Alexa just came in and I asked her to look at what was on the floor behind the wall. She said it was 2 pillowcases, a pair of pants, and a pile of papers. I guess I need to clean house.

Annoyed

Poor Smush. She is feeling depressed. New puppy keeps sticking his feet in her face.

She is trying hard to not be upset, but I know her and she is. We are paying too much attention to Blitzen. I've been trying to lay down and pet her.
I just noticed her feet were cold, so Sierra got her some pretty purple socks out of my drawer and I put them on her.

She isn't even trying to take them off.

RV

Last week we went to Big Bear to go tubing on the snow hills. We brought the 2 shepherds. Blitzen seemed very confused as to why the house was moving, but Smush just crawled up to her spot on the dashboard/windshield.

The dogs got to see their first snow and played around in it. If I could figure out how to post short video clips you could see them tumble in the snow. But for now I can post pictures instead.

It was a fun excursion, but what a muddy mess the RV was afterward.

Good Morning

Ignore the laundry piles--I had sorted piles to wash. When I woke up this morning all 3 dogs were sacked out on my bedroom floor. I tried to get them all in one photo, but it was hard. Here they are:

Big babies! No wonder I sleep so well, I'm guarded by 3 dogs

Friends

Smush and Blitzen have become friends. He looks up to her like a mommy. He kisses her a lot and follows her everywhere. Today when they were both napping ON the couch with me, their hands were touching. I grabbed my phone and snapped this picture.

I love these dogs. Later when Mike came up with a bowl of popcorn, he had 2 shepherds following him. They both decided to beg for pieces of popcorn. It was air popped, so Blitzen won't get any calories from that. He's too thin. When he goes to the vet next week I'm going to ask what we can do to help him put some meat on those bones.

Let me introduce you

This is my dog, Kobe. He is a dog we found wandering in the cold over 5 years ago. He was so mean that if we had called animal control he would have certainly been euthanized. We had never had a dog before, so we decided to just become a dog family. Our 5 year old wrote on a piece of paper with crayon "I (heart) my dog" and taped it on the boat right above the mattress where he slept. I had to keep him after that. Kobe is old---vet guesses 12+. We are sad that his time is almost up, but he is our boy and we love him so much.

Next is our dog Smush. She was named after a LA Lakers basketball player. Get it? Kobe and Smush? Well, it fits her after 4 years. We got her in February 2006 at a dog adoption event in Temecula. I was looking for an older dog for Kobe to have as a friend, but she caught Mike's eye and heart and we ended up with a 5 month old puppy. She's almost 100 lbs of pure love. She has been a great companion and walking buddy. She needs no leash on walks as she doesn't leave my side. She's very sweet and emotional. Smush has had about $2,000 of dog training and is a certified therapy dog. Her favorite thing to do is go for rides in the car and RV. She has had the best life a dog could have.

Finally, our newest family member is Blitzen. Blitzen was a Christmas gift for my now 10 year old who has had a 3 year fascination with German Shepherds. Turns out he was also a gift for us as well because we all already love him.
We adopted Blitzen from Coastal GS rescue. They were so knowledgeable and helped steer us to the right dog. Sierra knew immediately that this smelly, matted, super bony dog was THE one. I was surprised, because he was not what I thought she was looking for. He is long hair and looks kind of like a bear. It has been 9 days today and he adjusted very quickly. We have just given him lots of love, food, doggy beds, and 2 baths. I'm so glad she picked him.
